By OldSkoolGP at 05/27/2009 - 13:50
This year's 60DegreeV6 meet will be held in Bowling Green, KY from August 20-23 at Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green. We will be camping at Beech Bend Park which is also the home of a dragstrip and amusement park. Events we have scheduled are a tour of the Corvette assembly plant on Friday, Saturday at Mammoth Cave National Park, and drag racing on Saturday night. On Sunday there will be an impromtu brunch at a local restaurant.

I'll be looking for input from memebrs that will plan on going about what things we could do. If you want to drop your .02 in, please post in the following thread:

New Donations System
By bszopi at 04/06/2009 - 02:29
With the new server move, our operating costs have gone up slightly. So with that said, we are implementing a better donations system. As of right now, its just the default install, so it looks ugly. I hope to fix that in the near future. Anyway, its not that we NEED the money, as I am willing to continue to support the site as needed. BUT, with more donations, there is the thought that we will be able to provide other features to the site in the future. This will include site merchandise hopefully (stickers, shirts, hats), possibly extended content, and maybe even a lottery for merchandise (see if we can convince Ben to donate some stuff again). Anyway, I am NOT asking for money from anyone, but I would like to provide a better donations system than we currently have, and let people know how who else donates, as well as how much donations the site brings in.

I would also like to thank EVERYONE who has donated in the past. Every dollar has helped keep this site up and running and ad-free!

Buy/Sell/Trade Rules?
By 96 century at 04/04/2009 - 16:34
Its been a while since I've been on here. I cant seem to find the rules for Buy/Sell/Trade. It seems like remember that you not allowed to post your own ebay listings but that could have been a differnt site. Thanks in advance ~Josh

We're Back!!
By bszopi at 04/04/2009 - 03:17
Ok, so let me just say, this was probably the worst 24hrs in my life... But, it is finally up and running, so its all good. Sorry for taking so long. I think its about 99% where it needs to be, which for right now, is good enough for me. I can tweak the rest as we go.

Anyway, we have moved up in the world. We are now on a much better, and much faster server. So, depending, I may be able to do more with it as well. But we will see how it goes as is for awhile. On a good note, at least all the content is back and accessible!

Upcoming Site Downtime
By bszopi at 04/01/2009 - 02:34
I finally am making a pro-active effort to announce an upcoming site downtime several days before it actually happens!! Woohoo for me! And now on to the actual announcement...

Anyone who has visited the site in the past week or so has noticed that the main page and content is basically not there (it is, but not readily accessible). It seems that we were causing excessive loading on the server processors (hence the shutdown on that Friday). So, for the past week I have been looking at ways to try to improve the site to make it less server intensive. I've actually installed and started to configure 3 new content management systems, none of which I was overly impressed with. So, I started looking at other options. And the option that we will be going with is to move hosts and go to a VPS (virtual private server). This isn't as big and bad as a truly dedicated server, but it is a huge jump from what we currently have.

So what does that mean for you, the users? It means the site will be down for a day or 2 while the server transfer takes place. But, the good news is, the site should be faster once its back up and running. And all of the content will be back up as well (maybe not right away, but soon). I have also talked with the new host about assisting me in streamlining the current applications we are running for the forum and CMS, which should hopefully help with the site speed as well.

This move will affect ALL site currently run on this server by me, of which most are basically unknown. BUT, WOT-Tech will be affected, as will 3400swap.com. I will be working with Ben to hopefully minimized the downtime for WOT-Tech, so as not to hamper any sales or technical support needed by his customers. I haven't decided on an actual date yet, but I hope to do it the end of the week, weekend, or first of next week. I will keep this thread updated as things get closer to being worked out.

Thanks!

Working on the site...
By bszopi at 03/27/2009 - 18:16
Yes, I am working on the site, so sorry for it looking kind of strange. Hopefully it will be back to normal soon. Thanks!

Site Status
By bszopi at 03/20/2009 - 00:38
Sorry for the downtime today. It appears that somewhere we have a script that is causing excessive load on the server, therefore causing our account to be locked until the problem was resolved. Not sure if it is yet, but I am in the process of turning off features and what not to make the site less server intensive. This will hopefully result in a faster server as well (if you hadn't noticed, its been kind of slow lately). Anyway, you may seem some things come and go over the next few days as I try to sort everything out. We may go through yet another makeover of the site... Its not something I really want to do, but if it makes the site perform better, then that is what I have to do. So bear with us as we try to resolve these issues.

Site Software Upgraded
By bszopi at 01/11/2009 - 18:21
Ok, I have upgraded the site software to the latest version. This means that there may be some things that may not work like they used to, or are missing entirely. If you come across anything, PLEASE let me know, by posting in this thread, so I can try to get it fixed.

As of right now, I know I need to fix the navigation bar at the top of the site, so that it is back to the way it used to be, as well as includes the link to WOT-Tech. Other than that, with just a quick run through (so I could turn the site back on), it appears like most stuff is working just fine.

Site Glossary
By bszopi at 12/21/2008 - 18:42
In order to help people out with some of the abbreviations used on the site, I have added yet another mod to the site - a glossary. Some people may have noticed this already (I think I had EGR and knock sensor entered). Whenever one of these items appears in a thread (ie, EGR), the word becomes a link. If you mouse-over it, you get a brief description of the item. When you click on it, it brings you to the glossary page giving the full description. Some words (see below) may only have a few word description.

I have added the rest of the sensors that are currently in our detailed sensor description page. I will soon be added some other common automotive terms (ECM, ECU, PCM, SFI, MPFI, etc), as well as Internet acronyms (HTH, FWIW, IMO, etc). If anyone has ideas for things they think would be useful in the glossary, please let me know and I will get them added.
