Pistons

Stock pistons for the NA motors weren't designed for boost. You can use nitrous in moderation, using a 50-75 shot, but you will need to make sure hte tuning on the motor is up to par for such an upgrade. If you want to play it safe, it is best to upgrade the pistons to either the TGP version or aftermarket hyperutectic or forged.

Federal Mogul (TRW)makes a nice set of aftermarket pistons for the 60° V-6. They keep the original dish layout to hold the same compression ratio, but are reinforced around the weak side. These pistons are offered in standard cast, hyperutectic, and forged versions, as well as offering oversize pistons up to .060". Check the scans from the TRW catalog for readily available pistons.

Most any piston ring set will work for your new pistons, but if you want performance, get a set of Total Seal® Gapless rings. These rings indroduce split interlocking rings that virtually eliminate all blowby gasses. The only drawback is that TotalSeal doesn't manufacture a specific kit for the 60° V-6. You will have to get a set of measurements off of your new pistons. If you dont know how, look into taking them to a reputable speed shop or engine shop and explain to them what you need. Someone there should know how to help. Complete instructions are included with the package, as well as a Total Seal decal and beleive it or not, a peice of Total Seal candy.
