    Project: L-body headers

Well the time has come, and I have been planning on making some l-body headers for a while and a couple of the members here have stepped up to the plate so this can become a reality!

MY91GT(Z) has sent me the modified headers he bought from johnnymossville.

Sorry 91GT, but being sick last weekend, all I did was lay in bed

So. I have the headers here at the shop now, and got them bolted to a spare block and heads I had here. Come to find out the headers I started tacking together were on the right track! A little different in the routing, but the primaries were almost in the same exact position.

Now, I need more help from the Beretta/Corsica owners. The S&S's are still standing quite a ways off the front head and appear to me that they won't clear a stock fan. Can someone measure the distance from the fan motor to the front head where it meets the block (maybe even a pic)? I know loner's turbo headers I built used exactly 1/2 of a u-bend (about the same as the S&S), and we had to swap his fan out.

I might take some pics with my cell phone, but really would rather wait till I have my wife's digi with me (mine crapped the bed).

Here's what I had started a while ago...

I'm looking to sell these for about $500-550 coated (maybe via Ben's store).

Stay tunes for more pics. Today I am cleaning up the welds and getting all the measurements taken, and will probably start on the jig to make them consistent

    -John

IIRC Loner's was a 94. Would you mind takig a tape measure to it and getting me a pic? Kep the tape as level as possible to the ground.

I actually changed the primary design on the pics above to compensate for this, just don't know if it was enough.

EDIT: I also noticed these S&S had the crossover brought in a bit, actually interferes with the rear head if the flange isn't in the correct location...

What do you want me to measure on my 94 exactly? I don't know where they hit at... The 96 fan I think has a smaller motor..

the 96 motor is bout 1/2 to 3/4 inch shorter its in barry's post in the show room section on bstuff.

and yes that flange problem does make it a slight pita but not to bad from my prior experience. and when you do the crossover have it angled up at least another 5* or so, so that it clears the older 5spd mount as i had to modify the brack and woody on bstuff who has my old set made a slight dimple to clear the tranny and bracket

These might even fit the 90's N-bodies if it clears a 4T60-e. At the very least they'll be a hell of a lot closer than the 99+ N-body headers.

Yes these would fit N bodies, L bodies, and probably J bodies too. Possibly W bodies too. But not the newer W/N bodies, those of course would use unmodified SS.

Fitting over the 3t40 would make it just about universal far as tranny/headers fitment. Fitting a L body would open it to more platforms and fit a huge crowd. Dont need to make them fit the newer W and N bodies as that is already in production.... Unless you just want to cut throats, would be LOL and a slap in the other manufacturer's face.
