the reason i went with a 3400 bottom end is for aftermarket purposes. im nearing completion on a 3450 turbo build and keeping the 3400 has availability for forged pistons through bens store, and im using small block chevy forged rods (that was not a bolt on however). i will lose the .1 liters of displacement to have a bottom end good for 600+ horse. plus having the 3500 top end, i have all the benefits of the flow they carry. kinda like the best of both worlds you could say

.1l displacement loss really isn't a loss when you consider the insurance you now have in your bottom end, especially when it will be made up many times over from going with boost.

SBC rods have the same length, small end journal size and big end journal size, the main difference (besides having 8 in a SBC and 6 in a 60v6) is the big end needs turned down narrower to fit the journal on the crank of the 60v6 because it's too wide. You have to have the bearings done as well when you have rods modified in this way, but at least the cost and ease of getting forged rods offsets machining costs vs a custom one off set of 6 rods.

could you use 60v6 6 bearings instead of turning sbc bearings?

I'll leave that to someone who's done the mod, but I believe the locating tangs are different/in different spots.

no you cant. they sit offset in the rod.

i believe mine needed turned down .085" per rod to fit the crank. so not much.

    bearing p/n- cb745 HN

these bearings are clevite high performance, and are the perfect width for the machined rods

Could you dish some details on the turbo setup for your build?
