Recommended Parts: Performance 3400 Street Built

This one is what I would recommend for a performance build that isn't geared solely for budget

    Street/Strip 3500 LX9 Heads
    - Manley Steel Retainers

    Head Bolts
3400 Competition Upper w/ 65mm TB opening included
    65mm TCE Billet Throttle Body
    3500 Competition Lower
    3500 Metal Head Gasket Kit

    ~$1485 + $420 core ($200 Heads, $80 Upper, $80 Lower, $60 Throttle Body linkage if assembled)

    Optional Upgrades

    +$150 ARP Head Studs
+$180 Cometic Head Gaskets (.060" thick, any bore)
+50 8mm Rockers for those with 1996-2001 3400s and some 2002 models with stock 10mm rockers

    Further recommended upgrades

    #28 Injectors (26.37 @ 55psi on 2000 and newer 3400 engines) $100 while supplies last
    - Adjustable FPR for 1999 and older 3400s $135

Tuning. Local dyno place is $75 an hour to rent their mustang dyno and the dyno operator is very good with OBD2. Currently no tunes are available off the shelf. For those with OBD1 and swapping in a 3400, the OBD1 tuning service would be worth checking out.

    Bottom End Recommendations

Stock. Free and if your engine is in good shape already, there is nothing to worry about for a performance street application using the above parts. However, if you want to go further, this is what I recommend.

    Diamond Forged Pistons.
    Sealed Power piston rings
New Tri Metal Rod and Main Bearings
    Crank Scraper

    $793 Regular price

    Optional Teflon Scraper upgrade +$92

SS cam might be pretty good for the nitrous but I will have to take do a few simulations. The double roller set is all TCE, nothing GM. The GM 1994 3100 set is its own deal, and is the best you can get without the crank/timing cover work and galley plug grinding for the block. Everything looks good for your build. Nix the head bolts, since you have the head studs listed later.
