  • Anyone made a hybrid 2.8 & is there a video of it?

Hi, Ive been searching for some time & cant seem to find completed 2.8 hybrids, has anyone succeeded in doing this & is there a video of it running? Im extremely curious but all i can find is 3100/3400/3500's, no love for the 2.8 lol.

Technically my hybrid I built years ago (going back to 2002), I called the "Franken60" was a 2.8, even though in the end it was 3.2L The block was a 2.8L block from an S-10. I just happened to use a 3.1 crank in it and with the .75mm overbore, it ended up at 3.2L

I don't have any video of it, this was in the days before cell phones had good cameras and before smart phones. I do have a bunch of static pictures, somewhere, on actual film. Some of which has been converted to digital and posted on this forum, but they would likely be gone by now.

I dont believe ive seen anyone else do it. But the raven knows more then i will ever about the hybrid world.

The 3.1L hybrid would not be much different minus the ecm some of the controls.

I see your in ohio. Drive about 1 1/2 hour north and you can check out a 3.1/3100 hybrid anytime you want, thats what I have.

I built a 2.8 hybrid. I started with my 1988 gen 2 2.8 and added a 3400 top end and Engle cam to it. I also had a TGP setup on it at that time. Here's a crappy video before I finished the exhaust.

Oh wow thank you so much!! That's exactly what I was looking for & it sounds far meaner than I expected!!

Fasteddi I might take you up on that sometime, how far north are you? I'm about as far north as you can get (up around Sandusky).

& ghrarhg could you please post a video of a 0-90 with plenty of keywords for anyone googling/youtubing so they can find it? I've searched for a while & cant find such a thing. No lie though that 2.8 drag car was mean as hell!!
