  • are 96 cams different?

I am running a 93 Z-34 TDC in my fiero, and I need more top end power to really improve my ET and MPH. With the car at just over 2200lbs with me in it I do not need (and cannot use) the low end tq of the engine. I noticed that the 96-97 engine had a higher rpm peak power, and I was wondering if that was only from the redesigned heads/intake/exaust or if the cams had some different specs to them.

The second question is if the 96 cams are different can I use them in a 93 head, or can I just swap the 96 heads on the 93 block?

    thanx

The intakes are what really rasie the powerband. The cams are different timing but I do not know what timing that is. You can use 96 cam carriers on a 93 engine as far as I know, but the cam gears need to be swapped since they change those and the belt and the drive pulley in 96.
