But in moving to a thicker head gasket, I once again lower the compression ratio, somewhat negating the whole point of it. Like I said, the only reason I wanted to mill it further was to get the compression ratio somewhere between 10:1 - 10.8:1

I didnt mean you should do it, but sure, there are two simple ways to raise compression, which is to use a thinner gasket, or shave your heads. I dont mean to confuse you or misguide you by telling you what I did, or anything, just giving you pointers on what you could do ya know?

Just get associated with the cr calc, and ben's selection of head gasket sizes, and work from there to see if you need to shave your heads to achieve your goals. Just keep in mind how much quech you are staying with

Right right. Thanks alot brother. On a related note, do you happen to know if it's possible to mill just a bit off the top of the block itself?

Possible yes; Worthwhile? IDK, you'd have to ask the pros (im not one of them lol), but I imagine it would change your deck height, and piston to head/valve clearances (unless you shave the piston too, but that defeats the whole purpose too)
