  • the new DD my 03 Outback H6

well the 98 i picked up to replace my 95 legacy that was running out of life and would require more money than i wanted to put into it.( top of the gas tank was leaking, rear subframe needed replacement, needed new regular tires, body rot typical area on subaru's behind the rear wheel well).. since i couldn't find any H6 subaru's in my area at the time i picked up a 98 outback which at the time seemed like a good deal but a few months after i got it, the engine developed a leak at the oil separator plate on the back of the engine which would require pulling the engine and since i didn't have a hoist anymore and paying $700+ to have a $30 plate replaced plus the passenger side axle boot..i randomly started looking for an H6 outback. well i found one and went to look at it during my time off before the 4th of july, without the intention of buying it i ended up walking out that day with the outback becoming mine. stopped in that day with the sole intention of just looking but after seeing it and driving it i couldn't pass it up. it was an insanely clean inside and out 1 owner outback.

the pics from the dealers site before i picked it up..

removed the H6 3.0 badge from the grille

picked up some JDM tails for the outer portion not knowing they were that different from the USDM center part already on my car..needless to say i'm looking for the center portion from someone on this side of the world since everyone from the other side wants insanely high shipping for the center.

did a little de-badging. removed the AWD and H6 3.0 badge from the rear..can't remove the Outback badge since it has mounting pins which leaves holes in the panel

not sure if i want to leave the outback badge off the door or find a way to hide the mounting holes from the badge on the side doors. i like the cleaner look but it leaves behind a couple holes.

slowly swapping out the interior lights for led's started with the door lights.

oh it's getting lifted don't worry..from the dealer pics i thought it was just a regular black like my GA but it's got a metallic pearl to it, which eased the pain of buying another black car.

literally just bought these a minute ago Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 found them for $145 a tire shipped.. way better than the other sites i found that were at least a $100 more total for all 4

NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA R2 - Northern comfort!New premium non-studded tyre designed for Northern winter conditions with ice and snow. First-class safety on ice...

and i picked up the GTZ wheels..the other two are black so these may or may not get some black treatment depending on how many craps i give.

picked up the rims last week and then ordered the tires.. went down to unload this stuff from my car and cut the grass/mow the leaves.

threw one on for a test fit since no one has ever ran these rims on a 2nd gen outback. steering wheel wasn't centered but it sits around the same offset as the OEM wheels.

got my snow tires mounted.. keeping a little GM alive with this one. rear shocks came in today so at least the rear part of the 1" lift will go on.

and i bought some of this except gun metal color for the wheels.

i went for the cheapest option for wheels. they are for the winter so. got the set of wheels for $50.. they work and i finally got the GTZ wheels on a car. that was my goal with the Z26 i had but that never happened.
