  • New best times for the 3500 Lumina!

Well I did not make it out to the track in the fall again after my 15.47@90, so I went yesterday for the opening weekend! weather was a nice and sunny, 14*c and a bout a 15-20km tail wind!

here are some of the runs:

    15.447@92.45

    15.431@92.63

dropped the tire pressure a bit and let it cool for 1/2h:

    r/t............ -.122
    60'........... 2.332
    330.......... 6.388
    1/8........... 9.757
    mph.......... 73.32
    1000'........ 12.616

    1/4.......... 15.020
    mph......... 93.58

    The it ran a 15.265@92.22
    and a 15.204@93.67mph

only changes from last year (and the 15.4) are the 2.5" cat back (now full 2.5" maniflod back) and some 205/55r16 snow tires on some gp wheels!

sooooo close to a 14.999! might try again in a few weeks, if not maybe later next month. really need a tune and to get the headers on!

Might want to get a set of summer tires on another set of rims and try again. I know on my snow tires on my truck I've chirped third a couple times, and it only has 98hp. Judging by your 60 foot you are spinning some off the line from probably the same problem.

        01+ Grand Prix wheels, 16x6.5"

The snows are softer and hook up a little better. Can not get the car to 60' any better, think alot of it is due to the crappy 3spd auto and the stock 3.1L tune on it. (the bad suspension dose not help either)

I will try to get some pics of the snows, they sort of look like drag radials with a wide strip in the center. I got them for $10 for the pair so I thought I would give them a shot! If anything they help my crap fdr gear!

        here are some vids:

it explains why its still a 15sec car... lol

He could probably see mid 14's with it tuned properly.

you think? that much? The 3.1 tune is costing me that much I thought maybe a tenth or a tenth and a half.

Can't decide if I want to get a chip from robertisaar or invest in OBD1 tuning equipment or swap to OBD II since I have HP tuners and a wide band....

I need to do something cause I have a cam and headers here waiting to be installed!

if you're gonna keep building it, buy your own burner/emulator. IMO.

                    the 3.1 tune sucks on a 3.1.. i can't imagine driving a 3500 car with it.

+1 for an emulator, it makes life very easy.

I was stuck around 15.0 in the beretta. Then jon 3400 modified helped tune my car over a weekend. It ran 14.8 @ 93 easy.Im sure with slick and if he had more time.Mid to low 14's would be easy.

So Is this what I need to get?

If so can I tune more than one car with it?

or is their a cheeper way of getting in to OBD1 tuning?

please post some links on starting OBD1 tuning if you have any! thanks

The parts we use are there. We also use the ostrich with the BMWs but its not so easy with 1 person. Still a nice setup though to have.

I'm still stuck with a 3.1 tune on my 3.4. I'm mid low 14's and shift at 5200 or so, all computers fault. The motor is starting to wake up and pull at 4200. I've had everything I need for coil over strut conversion for over a year now and have been looking at my MS2 for 6 months. No time to change it.

Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.
