    I have an 84x serial as well as an 85x usb cable.
    I've been playing with the hex terminal with it,i'll see if I can capture any command strings.
    Will Cain or wireshark work for sniffing those com ports?
    First i'll need to download DHP though,been looking for it to try and see if it'll work.
    Didn't realize it was here,I generally only do a little lurking.

    If I figure anything out i'll post up.

      I bought a AVT842 (USB) and it worked with the DHP software out of the box on a windows 7 laptop.
      The only issue I have is that I can not read DTC codes - I don't know if it's an issue with the software or my hardware.

        Was your DHP software already activated? That's what we are saying will not work. You can't activate fresh installed software with an off the shelf unit.

        Someone should hunt down Charles and see if we can figure out what the hell is being sent during this activation, or somehow remove it from the software.

        We have to have someone on this forum who can see what changes are done during the "activation" process and possibly replicate those with a Reg hack, or file overwrite.

        I actually use a cheap-O OBDII cable to get codes if that's all I need to do, and really only use my DHP to datalog and flash my PCM.

          No it wasn't. It registered without any problems.
          I have to use the ELM327 to read codes too.

                sadly it looks like the AVT 842 doesn't appear to be sold by AVT anymore.

                edit: Looks like its still in stock, but I can't find a price.

                    Ware can I find a OBD2 cable innerface that well work with the DHP tuner? I have been looken and looken.

                    Does the AVT842 really work with the DHP tuner? Or is there something else we can use. All my sreaches

                    brought me to 60DegreeV6.

                    Can use some help me.

                      Not sure about the AVT-842. As posted above, motorhead had luck with DHP using the AVT-842. DHP was only sold with the AVT-838 and AVT-841 so it's hard to say what other AVT product are guaranteed to work without trial and error first.
