  • 5 speed swap

How hard would it be to swap in a 5 speed trans into my car.
I found one at a junk yard in a GP.
And my trans is screwing up right now and I would love a stick.

Manual W bodies stopped production in 93, and your year/engine combo never came with a 5 speed standard, so swapping backward to full OBD 1 or up to OBD 2 would have to be done too. Also I don't know if the provisions were still there to mount the clutch pedal/ect. so you might be in uncharted territory there. Also your mechanical skills would play a role in determining if it was an easy or hard job to pull off. This said, it's not impossible, but it all hinges on how bad you want to roll your own gears and how well you know your way around your car with wrenches.
