  • AC Delco Spark Plugs = NGK

Maybe some of you know, but I just found out that the AC Delco plugs for the 3500 engine are actually NGK plugs made in Japan.

I am not sure that they are the iridium plugs, they are just the stock 3500 plugs that GM uses. I think they might still be classified at the platinum plugs.

Iridiums have a small gauge electrode tip usually unshrouded. NGK makes all standards of plugs not exclusive to iridiums. Platinums have a longer ceramic shroud surrounding the electrode tip.

Not news to me that NGK is branded under Ac Delco so is Delphi, weatherpac, metra pac, and tons of other dual branded parts. NGK also contacts out work orders under partnership and also grants rights to use the plug seat if marked NGK under trandmark copyrights.

Oh well linky to WWW pics not working.

I am sure that most stock replacments are platinum after 2000, I can not tell form your picture if the one shown is platinum as you don't show the electrode.

A 3500 engine list a AC delco Platinum plug as OEM equipment.

05 3400 and 04 3500 use the same plugs, ITR4A, which when searched come up as NGK Iridium plugs.

I have a set in my car and another set in the basement since I recently aquired a 05 3400 and a 04 3500... Plus I have some autolite Iridiums in the car waiting to go in to see if that solves my "misfires" that my DHP logs...
