  • Question : '89 Cutlass 2.8MPFI engine stalls when heat up

Hi, sorry for my weak english, I'm not native.

Few days before I've found nice US spec Cutlass Supreme SL here in Central Europe, so I bought it for my mothers birthday - she always dreamed about american car and Oldsmobiles are generally rare over here. I knew that there will be some problems soon or later and the first one is here more soon than later. Engine starts and runs fine, but after heating up it starts to stall and oil control lights up, hard to say if it burns oil or not, I did only few miles so far, but there is plenty of oil and I've found empty bottle of 5w30 in the trunk, so that should be OK... I can't find someone who knows these engines around so far, so any advice from you guys (before I do something stupid) will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks.

could be your ignition control module. those act up when hot and just die.
