  • Question : Oil filter threaded nipple

I'm trying to find the threaded nipple that goes into the block to mount the oil filter. I have an 02' 3400 from an Impala. It seems to be a mystery part that no one knows about, no thread size, pitch, length or where to find one. Any suggestions beyond the junkyard?

    Thanks

I tried looking on RockAuto and couldn't find it. You could take an oil filter into a hardware store such as ACE and find a long allen head bolt that would thread into the filter. Then it would just be a matter picking the right length from there.

So what did you end up doing?

Yeah, no real suggestion beyond the junkyard. Pull one out of an L82 and stick it in your pocket. You'll need a 10 mm hex (allen) socket. I know for sure at least 94-96 A-bodies (Century, Cutlass Ciera) have them, and that they fit into newer blocks.
