  • You's guys with head studs

So what torque specs did you go with?

Stock torque has a extra 90* after a inital torque to stretch the bolts... I'm afraid that extra 90* will pull the threads out of my block.

I used the ARP torque specs for the stud size. I don't recall the number.

Looking around I have found 71ftlbs using arp assy lube, but that was from a DSM site... So I submitted a inquiry to them asking what the numbers should be for the bolts I have.

yeah I found that but whats the fasteners tensile strength? Remember I had to buy individual bolts since they dont have a "kit" for the aluminum head 3x00 motors. So if that info is on a package, I'm lacking the package.

basically that chart gives me three different numbers to use...

Dont worry I'll post it. I guess right now I just need to know the tensile strength of the bolts I own...

better question is where did you get the studs? and do you have a part number? what did the kit cost?

I sell the studs on the store. Part numbers are on the forum and site.

Ok, so it says over 200,000 PSI. Does that make them 200,000 or 220,000 on this chart? Its great that you are posting links but an answer would be better since you seem to know it.

I bet they sell a lot more of those though. I am hoping that if I order enough of these, they will make us a kit number and reduce the price. I need to see if these fit the 3900 heads.

So did we figure out what PSI rating these studs are?

Like I said I saw on a DSM website the ATP5.4LU used as a corner stud for a head, and they said that ALL bolts must be torqued to 71 ftlbs using ARP lube... so I guess that would make them 220,000 and above. From their website at least...
