im just wondering the performance gain of adding 3500 heads to a otherwise completely 3400 engine. in other words..3500 heads only. the rest 3400 including the intakes.

I did it before and it had pretty good performance BUT in the end will cost you tway more then a 3500 swap for less performance.
maybe it is just me but the 3400hybrid felt more rev happy then my 3500. the 3500 has a lot of low end grunt!!
oh and you NEED 3500 LIM with a 3500Heads.Mike 60degree addict.
