  • Valves hit piston. pictures included. are pistons

    Hi Guys,

Forgive me if this is the wrong forum for this post. I am working on a Mitsubishi that has a broken timing belt. Every Valve hit every piston. I just wanted to know if you guys think its ok to reuse the pistons. The intake side is worse so I focused on that in the pictures. Thank you in advance for your help guys!

    This is a GM 60* V6 forum.
But your question is general enough. You could get away with re-using the pistons, but I would replace them if it were me. Your valves are obviously all garbage.

those aren't too bad.... I'd consider it free valve clearancing/selective forging and reuse them.

if it had been bad enough to push material around, pinch the rings or show any amount of fracturing, then you would certainly need new slugs.
