BGK FTW. I like NGK's and Delco's.

Name:
NGK TR55 Spark Plugs
Item#:
41-TR55
Price/ea.
$2.19
V-Power
V-Power spark plugs are a patented design by NGK to improve ignitability and reduce quenching. Ignitability is improved by the V-groove cut in the center electrode parallel to the ground electrode, this directs the spark to to the edge of the center electrode thus exposing it to more of the air/fuel mixture. Quenching is reduced in much the same manner, drawing the spark to the edge of the center and ground electrodes reduces the surface area available to quench the spark. See quenching for more info.

plugs
well as for the bosch 4 platinums, i never had a problem with them at all. at 70000k there still going great. idles nice, even right through the winters. plus im using taylor's plug wires with msd coil packs. runs beautiful, give it a try.Originally posted by bve32k View PostMy car eats Plats like they are candy. So its not worth putting them in. I ended up using the TR55's and gapped them @ .043. Car runs smoother than before.

like i said, i know 3100s destroy anything other than the specified plugs within a few thousand miles. obviously the LQ1 is a bit different in that respect...Originally posted by bve32k View PostMy car eats Plats like they are candy. If you add a MSD DIS-4 you can widen the gap testing in 5 thou at a time...

From knowing what you have done to your LQ1, you are left experimenting with gaps. You don't have extensive work done, but you have enough to change combustion chamber temps and spark timing/Advance. You will need to look up what I told you to use in the past convo's. I DID tell you.

If your application is calling for a .045 gap then yeah I would think you should reset them to what you need them set at. BUT I would also make sure the TR55 is the right heat range for what you want as well.
I used to use TR6's when I was running my nitrous on my old stock engine... I have yet to play with spark plugs on my new one so I'm currently running the AC Delco iridiums that come in it from the factory.
