I will reserve my thoughts on all of this. My guess is I'm the only person on here who has actually operated a nuclear reactor, and don't believe most of the BS spread about how awful they are. Perhaps I am biased, since it was my job for 4 years to start-up, safely operate, and shutdown a nuclear reactor. Are there risks? Sure. There are also risks in flying, driving a car, mining for coal, drilling for oil...

Meltdowns are creepy man. Especially when the corium blob melts together and drips to the bottom of the containment chamber.

Ironically, at that point any attempts to cool it will only intensify the nuclear reaction. As any cooling will only bring the atoms closer together, which increases the immediate neutron's success rate of fissing the next atom. So an intense amount of radiation occurs very briefly, like a nuclear bomb stopped only a few nano-seconds into detonation. A lot of neutrons are released as a result, and this is the Neutron burst the media spoke of. So we KNOW atleast 1 reactor has fully melted down.

At this point, ambient temperature will determine the rate of fission. The corium blob stabilizes and releases radiation, heat, etc.

But the moment the containment chamber opens up, letting cool atmosphere in, the blob contracts. The meltdown now heats up and radiation release jumps up. Because of the cooling.

So that is the deadly irony. The core needs to be super heated to expand the atoms far enough where the immediate neutron releases ability to create another fission event is reduced below the current event number. But that is not possible with our technology.

So it must live it's meltdown life out. If it is entombed it will slowly fissile away. But pumpping water on it is a BAD idea once it gets to critical.

I think the US Military stepped in with some form of atomic disturbing devices. Intended to detere the reaction.

Who knows? I know i don;t trust the official story for nothing. I saw the containment vessel lid blow of reactor 3. That was NOT a hydrogen explosion in the roof of the structure. It was directed up from the containment vessel.

    lie, lies and more lies.

BTW, the idiots were using MOX fuel in reator 3. A very dangerous fuel as it has plutonium added from antiquated weapons grade stockpiles. Fukushima is larger then Chernobyl by a large factor. And when those bastards put MOX fuel in reactor 3, they created a monster. They obviously didn't expect a meltdown but still.....MOX should be outlawed from use in standard reactors. it does fiss hotter.

From the archives of "Project Gutenberg" comes a downloadable nine part audio reading of eye witness accounts and the work done by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in doing their post-war follow up and comparative studies on the global implications of detonating atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The tinny, unemotional mechanical voice reading this stuff adds to the chilling information about what the engineers found and the after effects of the devastating events. This is not for the squeamish or faint of heart and the only thing worth adding here is the question of why, in the face of having had these horrific catastrophes literally dropped upon their heads did the Japanese imagine they could ever monkey around with setting up so many concentrated nuclear facilities along known tectonic and geological fault lines and not risk subjecting their people to this latter day nightmare as re-run on atomic death should the worst case scenario re-visit Nippon.

And don't forget that forums like this are part of that healthy outlook. Getting that daily drive running or getting past that one impossible mis-match that keeps your dream project from getting finished can wreck a day / week or worse. There's plenty of threads here were somebody was looking pretty bummed out and they get a reply about "I got one of those I don't need -- PM me and I'll ship it to you today."

The old Red Green adage: "We're all in this together."

We are amazing creatures. We write the rules of the game, then play it.

I found it simple to do the best I can and be the best I can. Leaving everything else as fate.

There is amazing research that shows emotion directly interacts with DNA. Hard to understand at first, look up "The DNA Phantom Effect". Peter Gariaev, in 1985 has demonstrated this effect over and over again proving it very real. He created a powerful vacuum and measure light with a sensetive photometer. The photons were random and dispersed through out the vacuum as normally expected. Various objects had zero interaction, also as expected. BUT, DNA made ALL the photons align with the spiral. No questioning the DNA interacts with photons. And not some minor interaction, but near 99.5% of the photons measured were aligned. That alone was remarkable.

But then when the DNA was removed and tests continued, the photons remained aligned to the DNA sequence even after the physical DNA was removed. The vacuum was an essential part but it just eliminates a medium that hinders measurements, or something like that.

Anyways, emotion was shown to effect different ends of the photon spectrum. Love based emotions increased affinity for blue wave and fear based emotion had an affinity for red wave. It is believed the light spectrum, a medium for interaction with emotion on a DNA level. I believe it goes further, spirit and all that. But we can see our day to day emotions dictate which gene sequence is active. As different frequency caused resonance at different wavelengths energizing different areas of code.

Sorry to ramble off there........but I FIRMLY believe learning how to "love" more. Not the gay hippy love, peace BS. But just general peace inside ourselves, resolution of stressors, and the outlook we hold on life. Feel it and learn to make it stronger. Can't make any medical claims, legally.

In all sincerity, if you ware worried about it have an MRI series done. This will give the doctor a baseline of how your kidneys look, etc. Subsequently some years later if any suspicious areas are found they can refine the search. From what I recall, things like renal cancer are highly treatable when found early. Of course there's few symptoms until things are bad so getting a baseline image done with a checkup some point down the road would give you a lot more peace of mind.

I feel your pain. I had my lifetime limit of radiation 4 years ago for lymphoma treatments. Well, the cancer is gone (whoopie) but now I have to deal with the rest of my life and how to compensate for the damage done to keep me alive.

You can build a gieger counter, but it may scare you. After Fukushima, most of the lower 48 has been lightly "salted".

Everyone knows of iodine, which helps prevent uptake of radioactive iodine. What surprised many after Hiroshima and Nagasaki was some had a great resistance to the fall out. It was found Seaweed was great at removing harmful heavy metals from the body.

Pure brown seaweed extract works to remove heavy metals, radioactive elements, free radicals, strontium & cadmium.

Blue Green Algae, 8 grams of Chlorella daily caused a five-fold increase in the amounts of uranium, lead and cadmium that were eliminated

Black and Green tea has shown some protection from radiation.

Dandelions have fantastic ability to boost our cleansing system. Used in conjunction, one can boost the bodies ability to purge radioactive elements and heavy metals from the body.

REAL Colloidal Silver is great stuff. I take few doses when I feel like I'm getting sick and it knocks it right out. Skin won't turn blue like people claim, only if you consume large amounts on a daily basis of the bad colloidal silver products that use salts instead of true elemental silver.

And after any stress on the body, Milk Thistle is a blessing that removes bad liver cells and actual triggers the growth of new liver cells.

Above all that, you have the most important product to help remain healthy......a smile. Sounds gay but a positive attitude is a major factor in health.

btw, I was a few months old when I was exposed to the fall out from 3 Mile Island west of Philly.

started a topic BED (Banana Equivalent Dose)

    BED (Banana Equivalent Dose)

In the unlikely scenario that any of us would have to endure either a drastic nuclear accident; circa... Chernobyl or a direct nuclear attack from any of our enemies... there is one very unusual phenomena that would let you know right away if this was happening. In the case of big, air burst strike... were you sitting in your protected Bunker Room that was entirely dark... that space would briefly light up from the "Firefly-Like Glow" YOU, yourself would be giving off. The reason for this is because of the presence of so much phosphorous, potassium and calcium making up your skeletal structure. The "Glow Worm" effect would happen as excited photons in the elements in your bones were released from the impact with accelerated radioactive particles passing through them and would not last very long either.... and neither would you... because that much radiation penetrating any organic life form would shred the nuclei/DNA of each and every cell in your body and with no means to repair all that damage, your life would end in days, if not mere hours. Not to worry... if you are THAT close to such an explosion... first YOUR lights inside would go ON and then when the blast radius fills to the brim...it would be LIGHTS OUT!

This little video describes this phenomena fairly well:

Now most of you know that I'm about as optimistic a person as you will ever encounter and I pretty much look forward to life's challenges with at least one small smile on my ugly, old mug each day. And I was doing just that this afternoon...right up until the moment I stumbled upon THIS Wiki:

The article starts out in an almost humorous manner... I mean...really...you just about can't even say the word "banana" and not want to laugh about it? Right? Remember Raffi's middle speed of the three versions of this viral YouTube song?

Cute, huh? Yeah... it was all great... until I realised from reading deeper through that Wiki that some of my sincere efforts at improving my health might be getting seriously adjusted downward because I eat a HUGE number of these Yellow Devils each day to replace my Potassium lost from enjoying very, very heavy amounts of regular physical exercise. (This subject of health, fitness and weight loss will soon appear in another video posting that might really surprise you...Remember Driver_10's post of his Epic Weight Loss? Well... my post will echo many of his sentiments and similar experiences as well).

But now... I'm worried a bit because I often consume complete hands of bananas a day! Anyhow... I thought this was an interesting article with questionable implications for me and perhaps others who like those damned things as much as I do! Oh...I'm sure I'm being a bit hyperbolic (mostly to push the humorous side of this envelope) but in reality, I live within 100 Miles of The Crystal River Nuclear Energy Plant that has been mysteriously shut down for the last two years, ostensibly because they found a "huge crack in their containment building" which they have tried and failed to repair... using their OWN DIY methods!

Huh? WTF! Hummmmnnn ... So now...whenever the winds prevail southward in my direction... I have to wonder about what wonderful things it might have brought along with with it. Not to worry...the Half-Life of Potassium-40 is only 1.25 Billion Years. Of course if THAT awful scenario plays out, God Forbid... then eating Naturally Radioactive Food will be the LEAST of my problems. Does anyone in our membership know how to make a Cheap Geiger Counter?

I think The Survivor Manual sez: "Bend Over as Far as You Can ...and Kiss Your Big Ass ...Good Bye!"
