Engine dies when vehicle is clutched.

There really is not stock VSS. My old set up (stock) was a 2.8 carbed chevy engine, with an AX5 tranny, and NP207 transfer case. My new set up is a 3.4 fuel injected camaro engine and the old tranny and transfer case. The new engine want a VSS to run correctly. Well, my speedometer is driven by a cable that runs into the transfer case....I need to make that signal electronic, to make the engine run correctly.Originally posted by Alxsmt View Postquestion - y cant you use the stock vss?

I may have found someone that can help me. I need to know if the signal is a Hall effect signal, an A/C (alternating current) siginal, or a D/C (Direct Current) signal.
From reading on the Stealth conversion/jags that run site, it it says that the camaros from 91-93 are A/C....well my engine came out of a 94 camaro.
Can someone please varify which signal I need. Thanks.

Perhaps they would respond with their policy regarding returns and exchanges. They may let you buy one, try it and exchange it if it isn't the proper one.

I am no expert and not the one to advise you on this. Perhaps someone else who is knowledgeable will jump in with some info for you. My post was just my observation and to give you a heads up on a potential problem.

Do you think any of the ones on the site I posted will work? I need one that is 4000 pulses per minute and I see one on that site. But how do I make it work with my current speedo? Be sure to get a VSS that has the correct pulse/rev output. Too many pulses/rev and the ECM would think your Jeep was going much faster and would hit the speed limiter at a lower speed.

Would any of these sensors work for me? I want something that fits with little to modification, and I don't want to loose the function of my speedometer.
