Ok, that's cool. Like I said, I wasn't sure exactly... I knew the 3500 was a "C", and that the earlier models were either A or B, and just that I remembered that they went in order, but obviously GM opted not to do that.

3400's have A, 3100's have B and 3500's have COriginally posted by bszopi View PostDo you have the entire engine? Does the plenum say 3400 on it, or better yet, does it attach with just 6 bolts?
The only reason I ask is because, from what I remember, blocks with the letter "A" on them are 3100s. 3400s have a "B" on them, and 3500s have a "C". I could be wrong, but if you only have the shortblock, I'd measure the bore to make sure its a 3400.
here is my old 3400:

I would like to see pics of the cumbustion chamber when finished, and what size TB are you talkin?Originally posted by bjornmk1 View Postthose combustion chambers will also be done.
the work on intake wasn't finished either,it needs some beedblasting
to rough it up a bit,to smooth for the intake side is not going to be optimum.
the TB is from an alfaromeo 1.7L !!!(imagine that)
and wether direction it opens..eh..don't know
I don't have the 3400 TB here.
I was also thinking of making a oilspray to cool the pistons 5/6.

Are you going to polish the combustion chambers?
That 65mm TB looks like it might bolt on to a 3500 plenum. That would be a nice upgrade too
Looks like the way a mustang 5.0 throttle body bolt pattern is, and those bolt up with just enlarging one bolt hole or so.
Am I correct in that that throttle though opens the same direction as the stock 3400 TB does?
You should be able to do 250hp crank with less than 10psi I would imagine.

okay, thanx for the fix el diablo.
yeah..maybe keep the primairies a bit smaller.
since it's not a 3.4L but a 3L displacement engine.
I'll keep you posted guys.

Yes, and thank you for the pics of the ported 3400 heads. Mine are getting started soon, did you port the lower to match?
Good score on the low mile block, too.
