No anything DOHC is a totally different beast. The 3400 is a pushrod motor the DOHC is referred to as TDC (twin dual cam).
And the RWD 3.4 sfi had iron heads and is a bit different too.
Best to stick with aluminum head FWD 3400 motor as that stuff will work with your 2.8. 3400 was in vans back in 97 or 96 on up. Then in grand ams in 99+.

it's an '88 corsica with the 2.8 mpfi.
also i plan on buying the heads from a chevy dealership (where i can get a deal on them) by just giving them the part number from this site which is a GM number for the gen III ones and yes i have a vac egr which i have dissabled anyway.
im assuming the 3.4 DOHC intaks won't work but as far as i know all trans mounted 3400 were DOHC besides the impala so what about a from a RWD 3400?
thanx

Yep.
Measure, or do a search and pick a number from one of several people who measured.
Yes you need the matching intakes. The 2.8 gen 2 won't bolt up nor will the ports come close to aligning at all.
Check out domesticcrew.com you'll need some other stuff too adapted over I think. I believe that site had some discussions or at least some members have hybrids you could look at for ideas of what you need.
The intakes would be from the same car you get the heads from, or any year 3400, or 2000+ 3100's have the same size intakes. Also the 2000+ 3100/3400 upper intake manifold is designed slightly better for flow too.
You'll have to do something with your coolant hard lines probably (swap over 3x00 lines) and some other issues too. I can't remember them all right now. The 88 uses a vacuum EGR right? You probably can delete it without a code I think on an 88...
List what vehicle it is and someone else might be able to tell you more.

so you are refering to the gen III "D" shaped ones correct?
and would you happen to know the required pushrod size?
also did you mean i havew to get new intakes or just gaskets? and from what car would i get the intakes off of?Last edited by calisonic; 05-31-2007, 02:50 PM.

The 3400 heads will fit. The 3500 ones are the best but the bore is too big and will only swap onto the 3400 block.
You'll need the 3400 heads (or 2000+ 3100 heads, same thing) and the matching lower and upper intakes, and custom pushrods. That's commonly called a hybrid on here.
