alot of the boosted guys around here buy Tolene (sp) or Toulene? anyways, its a paint thinner or paint additive that you can buy in large barrels from paint stores.

they mix it varrying the % for different Octane ratings.

if you search on the net the turbo buick guys have a site about how to mix the crap. just another option out htere.

Toluene, Xylene, they are all small aromatic compounds. They combust very slowly because they are particularly stable compounds. All a high octane rating is anything that burns slower than Octane. Pure octane is 100 on the scale. Pure septane is 0.

However, if you go too slow burning then you might have some problems with not combusting. There are many many things out there that burn slower than aliphatic hydrocarbons (gasoline). You have a large variety. I would stick to using either nonanes (I assume this is what's in most race fuels with some alcohol in them) or alcohols.
        It\'s ugly, and turbocharged!

And the transaxle to get it to the ground!

an aromatic compund has a benzene ring correct? and dont they take a shit load of energy to break the floating double covalent bonds? i can see what you are saying that the aromatic compunds might be a bad idea (especially if you have a cat on the car)
