returnless is usually ditched in turn for return style anyway.. the fuel recirculating back to the tank helps cool it.

Yeah, the 3500 has the short stuby injectors. I think the 5.3L & 6.0L truck motors have them aswell.

The only thing wrong with the rail is lack of an FPR and return. You can use an aftermarket FPR that has a return built in. I also believe someone here used an FPR off of some kind of fuel injected chevy big block. I'm sure several stock FPRs can be found at the junk yard and adapted to be put between the fuel line and fuel rail with just a few fittings. I don't think it's worth switching completely to the returnless system in a vehicle that has the return line unless you are swapping the entire drivetrain and electronics from a donor vehicle.

Returnless is one less line to plumb (weight reduction, right?). I don't know how common the physical size of the 3500 injectors are, possibly harder to find aftermarkets in different flow ratings? Thats just speculation though. I have a bunch of other pics of my stock 3500 in that same folder.

I have every intention of using the 3100/3400 return system in my build.

Just swapping a 3100/3400 return style is the easy to use with existing stuff. 3900 however doesn't have an option to put the older stuff on, so for something like that you'd need to go to returnless.. Easier IMO to swap the 3100/3400 rail on and call it a day.

Aren't those returnless systems? So the regulator is at/in the fuel tank?

If I remember I can take pics tonight when I get home. I'm doing some reorganizing and cleaning in the garage anyways.
