  • 3100 Spark Plugs

My 3100 is nearing the 120k mark, so I'm going to be doing some maintenance tomorrow. What plugs should I buy for a little extra performance?

Bosch Platinum + 4's. .......of course you should never install these unless you want optimum flame front. ........and have the desire never to change them ever again.

Bosch Platinums Will foul out in 100 miles, they only work well on cars that dont fire 2 pluges at the same time! stick with Ac delco or NGK platium work good also!

LOL dumber words have never been spoken. Thoes 4 tips you see there dont do SHIT. Do you think the spark jumps to all 4? We all know that electricy takes the path of least resistance. So it will only pick 1. And if you look at that plug almost the whole electrode is shrouded by the 4 tips. How is this going to produce a good flame front if it is shrouded?

If they were so great they would be in every race car. But they arent. If you want the best plug get a standard platnum plug. I choose Delcos because they are the best for GM and waste spark ignitions. They will last your precious 100,000miles. OH and you can gap them too

Alright, I bought some AC Delco Rapid Fires. How do I get to the back three plugs? It seems like it's going to be a bitch. Also, should these be gapped? If so, how much?

Leave the factory gap for a factory ignition. You should invest in a spark plug socket. It has a swivel head and a rubber inside that will grip the end of the plug for you. It will take some extensions and flex joints to get to the back. Also use a little antiseize on the threads and di-electric grease on every high tension lead on the ignition.

What's a recommended gap for a 3400 with a full MSD DIS 4 plus system on it, including MSD coils, and interface modules? THanks

Well in that case it is time to experiment. Keep opening the gap until you get a misfire at high RPM or fell a loss in power from the previous gap. Then back off .020 or so.

With my Crane Cams ignition I can run a .080 gap.

That's good to hear, since I just put in a set of them since I couldn't find any ACs anyplace that was open in the evenings.

Delco, or Autolite. Never tried NGK's in a GM (only Nissan) so let me know how it works out
