still has the horrible fiero intake... which IIRC means it has to be an iron head motor.

Guess who I was lucky enough to catch when I was leaving earlier this evening to go and get... "The Old Ball and Chain..." You Guys have got to agree that at least this week... I live in a neighborhood that has the most eclectic and bizarre combination of owned vehicles, anywhere around. Have a gander at these images, Men.... And for all those who are "In The Know" about this strange ride... "The Mysterious Fiero Mera" ...Please... Do enlighten those of us who are NOT!

I'm not surprised that the fiero can be so easily disguised. Here's my '87 Fiero. It's got a Turbo'd LQ1 to match the looks. Gotta give the the ricers a run for their money

Good ol' Wikipedia! Apparently, it was termed as a Fiero Mera and was actually dealer option, but it was still a kit. I think it looks awesome. And wow! Look at the prototype for 1990 doesnt it have the essence of a 4th gen Firebird? And is that a 3.4L DOHC under the "hood"? And it goes on to say that the prototype would have been faster, cheaper and better handling than the Corvette.....amazing, but why did they axe such a great car???
Looks like an LQ1 to me. But then, I am biased. Backwards, but yep! LQ1! Kinda has that DOHC look.

LOL more fuel for the fire (or pondering! lol) I am REALLY curious about this car. I am a Fiero enthusiast and I don't even own one!!

Man, imagine if the 1990 prototype Fiero made it to production, a C4 corvette getting stomped by a 660 in a crazily underweight car? Purely awesome. If you notice with the prototype though, the gauge cluster is the exact same as a 4th gen Firebird's cluster and the rims closely resemble the 3rd generation Trans-Am rims.

This car was a work of art. And the thing that makes it better is the fact that GM built the car around a 660 which truly shows GMs intentions to make our little V6s performers.
Not to worry... Nobody ever bothers to make any appeals to my "Intellectual Vanity" in this level-headed place (which is probably a good thing...since I already suffer from such a terrible excess of personality in the "Real World" as it is) and so...likewise... I'm very hard to insult in that regard and I'm fairly thick-skinned, so my feelings won't ever be hurt by your excellent criticism. I often learn best when people yank hard on my "reins"..from time to time...

Nonetheless...the engine in that car may yet turn out to be a 3.1L motor. You see... what I forgot to add to the story was that Chris mentioned her Dad allowed someone to drive the car very hard and he destroyed the original engine. After much ado...Her Dad installed another motor ...and apparently decided to put a 3.1L Block in there. The information about that engine being "... a 3.1L V6"...came from HER...not from me. . The real problem is that I would not know one from the other, since I have no experience with the Fiero Car Line Series... and hence, my being as anxious as everyone else is to peek inside the "Trunk" to see what really is hiding in there for us to see and study...and of course...memorialize what can be seen with bookoo photos... When I can glom those images and post them here in this thread...then you'll have an uncommon opportunity of explaining to us all what really is powering that weird car!

the only V6 to go in a fiero was the 2.8, specifically, the L44.

EDIT: what is the eight digit of the VIN? that should determine what it should have came with. i know certain Pontiac 6000s had the option of a 3.1, maybe the Fiero did as well.

Okay...Since this is the first time I've ever heard of a Pontiac Fiero Mera, I Googled this up about the car. The one in her Garage looks just like these...only ..."Instead-Of-Red"... Her car is the Yellow Flavored one... It's interesting that there were only 247 of these vehicles ever made...and the dude in this article has his valued at around $43,000.00... WOW! The mystery deepens....

I wish she understood what you just explained. The roof on her home went bad during that big spate of Hurricanes a few years back and the county inspectors made her pay dearly to have a new roof installed to the new stricter standards...all that Ch'Ching has put their family in serious debt and hence...having the house appraised to get it re-financed. If she is sitting on a Gold Mine of a Rare Car...then I will do my best to get enough information with some videos and still shots for the Forum Members here in the "Deeper Know" to look over and then bring me up to speed on what she has been holding on to all this time. God knows ...they could use a fresh infusion of "Jingle"...

But, some were produced which makes them kit cars super rare. Gotta love politics!

    bigger 660.

and the thing was that it was a dealer selling the car from the factory and that violates IP rights IIRC. once it's out the door though, you can do whatever you want.

You know.....if this car actually is a Fiero Mera, it is worth some SERIOUS money. However, you did state that her father built the car so I am assuming that the kit was purchased after the car left the lot, as the Mera kit was a dealer option only. Nonetheless, it still is an awesome car and the engines that have been swapped into these things are phenomenal; almost ANYTHING can be swapped into these cars with (in most cases) ease. But, then again, why would you want to swap out the 660??

What I'd like to be able to do...is push the car out of its hiding place...then jack it up and after changing the motor oil and oil filter... I could prime that Mummified Engine with my Newly Designed GM V-6 Pre-Oiler Gizmo...before she decides to try and crank it over when its drier than a Pop-Corn Fart inside...and ruin the engine...
