his was an auto.
i think the reason why becuase 1) when the a/c on the cai sucks up the hot air and the iat sensor see's that and retards the timing.
but i took off the a/c shut off, and then the power came once the sensor seen the "right" temp.
but i was leaving him till we came to a lane merge.
then once it split into two i floored her and she left his ass.
the other day i raced another 97-02 grand prix gt...that guy had no chance. lol.
1/4 mile times ??????? 3.1

LOL nice! He was EXTREMELY pissed when I did a second gear take-off and still beat his ass lol.
I was deffinently proud of the turbo-talon beating though.

Sorry it took so long to repsond, but the Army has me busy lately. But since we've last talked, I've raced a Monte Carlo SS (guy claimed s/c'd, but i dont think it was), modded turbo Talon (fwd, 5spd, claims 235hp to the wheels), dodge ram (oh boy, I know), and a 2 door cavalier, and a few other things I cant remember. I gave that turbo talon a GOOD run for his money, and I started to creep back up by third gear. I caught up to him later (turns out he's using an old garage i used to store my Camaro in) and he told me his mods.
Go Pontiac!!

he said it was on. but thats was it.
as for me since i driver "hard" i'm gonna add an external tranny cooler.
and the hardshifts are by the computer.
i heard they last up to 200k FROM THE FACTORY.

The 4t60? Well i can't speak from personal experience, but I hear a LOT of good things about them. Especially the fact that if you mod your car a bit, the 4t60e is such a hard shifting tranny it can chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift. And since it's GM, the tranny should last forever
Can't help on the lean problem though. Could be a list of things.
Check the plugs, wires, and if there is an CEL on to start.

haha...what about a 4t60-e?
yea i keep telling him to maintain it, i mean somethings not right....the damn thing running lean cosistantly!

Shit no it wasn't an srt4 lol.
I had a '90 SE. 3.1, 5spd, and 240k miles on it. Ran like a charm. It would turn the 245/50/16's I had one it, in posi, like none other till third gear lol.
But if you dont take care of a car, ya it wont last. Though I'd say 219k miles has "last" if ya ask me lol. But it still has plenty left if he maintains it.
A 3100 w/ 170k is nothing though. Plenty of life left if ya treat her good.

well we know it was'nt a srt-4...noens are slow as sh!t.
my friend has a 90' grand prix se.
and according to his vacuum readins i done on his car...his engine is no good.
it has some knock 1000-2000rpms.
it has slight lifter tick.
and it smells like it running lean.
over all it has some...getup for a car that has 219k miles.
my 3100 has 170k miles....you mean to tell me thats nothing on a 3100?

BTW I raced a neon last night. Wasn't much of a race.
The lanes went from 2-lanes to 1-lane, and he punched it trying to cut me off before the 1-lane. I saw him coming quick, dropped it from 5th to third, and pulled away like crazy. I made sure to wave out the passenger window to him. He also tried this again because it went to two lanes again, and I just dropped it to third again and took off. I waved out my window that time
It was some damn 4-door. Dunno how many cyl's or if it was at/mt. But oh well, it was fun

Oh ya? Does he have a 3.1 5spd Sunbird?
But man you have, in relative terms of life of a 3100/3.1, zero miles on your car lol. I wouldn't worry about the compression or vacuum or anything

i told my friend about your sunbird 3.1 5-spd he felt inspired(msp?)
but he like my car...i dunno why.
i did a vacuum test on my car...man i'm surprised that she was still within specs of the vacuum. which indicates a VERY HEALTHY engine.
