I use the t04e on my 3100 and love it. Comes in fast and barely flows well enough in the top end. A 50-trim on a 3400 would definitely be a quick spooling city driver.

Not yet. The GT3076R and T04e will eventually be up for sale, but I need to finish the new turbo setups on the S2000 and Monte Carlo before I can sell them.

Two small twins would tend to spool up a bit quicker than a larger single turbo, but to me that small improvement is not worth all of the added complexity. For a quick spooling setup, the GT3582R or GTX3576R would be a good fit. If you want something reasonably priced, there are some awesome Borg Warner turbos out there. The S300 SX FMW is around the same size as a GT35R, but half the price and doesn't require water lines. I have a T04e 60 trim on my DOHC, but I would not go that way again. There are too many modern turbos that will dramatically outperform it for similar prices.

I spent alot of time thinking about twins, and I wouldn't do it, there's just no reason to. it's twice as much work in just about every aspect.

That's what you seem to want to do and that'll be how it turns out. But the manual will not allow you to spool up when you're in the turns or trying to play at low speeds with a stock geared manual trans.
Ok, now I see what you are trying to say. I may have to look into something differnt then if what you are saying is true. I'm not going to swap in an auto, so a different form of boost will be needed.

I find it amusing when people talk about miles on vehicles/engines. I just sold a car with 360k on the clock and that's where the odo stopped 3yrs ago!

HX35/40 might weigh a bit less/more but I am sure its ballpark.
One second search on Google, 27lb...

I will weigh one to be sure, there are 2 at my shop.

I doubt the HX35 weighs 60lbs. I have had the VE turbos in my hand and they are considerably heavier than the static vein turbos. I know people repeat stuff they read on forums, but I have actually held these things in my hand, AND installed them on engines...

Can you explain this better? What amount of boost were you running? What did you modify on your HX35?
