i love the car, dont get me wrong. there is no better feeling i get that driving a car that ive built myself thats completly different than everything else on the road. i really do want to keep it. what it comes down to is 2 days last week i was late for work cause of car issues. the biggest thing is i need a reliable car to get to work with, and im unable to park 2 cars at home. i have had offers to park the car over winter, but without a place to work on it, whats the point??? im doing what i can to find a shop, however without a shop, what can i do???

ahhh Steve..you know you cant sell it
There isnt a single modified car out there that hasnt pissed off the owner at one point or another. Just coincidence that the events happened at similar times
And you know you wont be happy with the cobalt...anyone can buy a quick car. I have driven many newer cars...not a one will ever give me the feeling of pride as when I drive the sunbird..no matter how much "better".
We need to get that thing painted and looking even better than the old one.
Maybe this weekend a few of us can get together and work out some ideas for the intake
built..not bought...

id be lying if i said the car wasnt for sale. after last week when i had something on the car break every day, ive decided i need to have a more reliable daily driver. now not saying im going to sell the car, but if i keep it i need to find a shop were i can store and work on it. if i do get a place to work on it, ill likley pick up a 2nd gen v6 5 speed j-body as a driver and tear into this thing, but ill be taking a different route with it. if its not my daily driver ill be freed up to do all the things ive wanted to. plans are to strip the car down, get the body work and paint done, finnish the interior and stereo, and get the thing turboed. however if im not able to find a shop i can rent, then ill most likely be selling the car, or parting it out and buying a cobaly ss/sc.

he's been wanting to sell his car lately, so its good to see the encouragement from you guys. i think his engine can make some real power if we get some parts to match the rest of the work he's done.

Sorry about ur heads. As for the Trueleo thing
,why am i not surprized

What did u think would happen?? u paid 600USD +shipping for the intake, god only knows how much u paid for that so called exhaust..
It is just some guy,who saw a hole in the market and quickly through some parts together REAL quick and over priced it all,,and thats the best DESIGN for performance!
pls,,no research there, just backyard hillbilly style........
As for Sharky, hang in there guy ur on the right track

hey sharkey, ive got some good info for ya if you want it. im in your same situation with my fiero. just got it dynod and im looking at 151hp at the wheels and 190trq. its rediculas. the heads i had were ported to the max, yet the machine shop wouldnt regrind my valve seats and spring seats on them cause he said they werent gonna work. so i went back to the stock heads with the crane 272 and comp 1.6 rr. at around 4400-5000 the power just falls way off. its retarded and very dissapointing. this is with the trueleo intake and headers. there are several points ive brought up to francis about the intake, he wont fix them. check out grapeaperacing.com for some formula that will help to create an intake that will actually flow where we need it to. ive already done all the calculations and have all the data you will need to make the best flowing intake for our iron heads. i just need some one who can weld and is onboard with my concepts to help me. if youd like i can post this data up for all to seeLast edited by merlot566jka; 10-01-2007, 08:48 AM.

I just want to see your namesake, since I am a Ducati fan (although I don't own one - yet). Even been to the factory in Bologna.
But yeah, I'd like to see your design as well.

simply put, not there isnt. more and more people do engine swaps or use 3x00 top ends because they flow so much better from the start. id love to see your design though.

Hello,,
I am goning to step in here.Pretty much no one here knows who i am.But i am a machinist and auto mechanic..Sorry but that trueloe thing is a joke,600 usd for piss poor welding and poor design. The reason i never stepped forward with my design,is because i dont think there is a market for it,,It is base'd off the old fiero 2.8 lower intake cut up ,,And it flows a hell of alot better and it never cost a 1/4 of the price for time and metal..My design is for the side by side intake ports because i never got my hands on the equal space port manifold yet,,Is there a market or no?????

the issue with building a 3.4l style intake is in order to clear the fuel rail the manifold would be taking up space that the distributor currently is in. i have thought about going dis to remedy this issue, but i need to add a crank trigger, and the store is out of stock on those.
ive started cutting flanges, they are very rought, but a start. basicly need to get them welded to the lower manifold and ill open them up to match the runners

you could use dual 3.1L mpfi tb's. that'll be more then plenty air. dual plenums would be trick! just gotta figure out how to synchronize them properly.
or what about something similar to the 3.4 iron head intake? that way you can get clearance for the rail.
