No trick, have the stock cam reground for more power and use a degree wheel to install the cam as close to the proper position as possible by offset install of the cam gear TDC mark and leave the VVT inop. We're not sure exactly where the stock optimum position for the VVT cam is yet so full retard may not produce the greatest performance, I know it results in terrible fuel economy when run continuously in that position and full advance can't offer maximum performance either so as CNCguy suggested the best location is probably mid position. My engine runs strong but it needs to be dynoed for a more accurate idea of where it's at power wise.
