I started this build about 4-5 years ago but had been preparing for it for at least a decade. I have this 1990 Isuzu Trooper with a worn out 2.8 that put on 340,xxx miles in the we have had it. I read all over the place between here, the third Gen forum, and sometimes the v6 forum(I can't remember what it was called). I have this build thread going on over at the zuzu planet here:3.4/3500 super trooper | Isuzu SUV Forum check it out if you feel the need.
Bear with me here, as I have a lot of notes scattered throughout a few notebooks from over the years and I forgot a lot of very important details. Since this is not your typical 3x00 swap, there are some VERY important details.
I found a 3.4L firebird motor
05 uplander heads and lower intake
05 equinox upper intake
LX5 throttle body from the oldsmobile(?)
pistons from a 3400
cometic head gaskets
SBC cam bearings
a cam from delta (it could be a better profile but oh well)
many other parts to complete it that I may list later on.
Lets get to where I am at right now:
The motor is built and ready for a few more bolt-ons before I hoist it up and get the clutch, flywheel, and starter all fitted up. There are a few kinks to work out before the motor goes back in.
I was trying to find some of ForcedFirebird's old threads where he was mocking up these accessory brackets and had to modify them somehow. The AC/Alternator bracket fits just fine with 3 bolts but the PS bracket only lines up with 2, and I don't know how wise it would be to drill a hole in the bracket to use the hole that passes through a coolant passage in the head. I just doubt it will seal.
Other things like going from dizzy to DIS, should be easy with the computer I have, The EBL Flash from Dynamic EFI. Its an OBD1 that can be tuned from TunerPro.
Injector wiring: The trooper ran on TBI with 2 injectors, Bob from Dynamic EFI says to wire the injectors in parallel and it will batch fire.
