  • Water in oil!

well i asked my brother how his car was running and he said not that good, so i went and checked the oil and the oil looked good nice and orange still but it had a bad build up of a white looking grease! from what i know that is moisture and there was alot of it. so i said well its time for new head gaskets and my brother started flipping out on how he puts sooo much money into this car and all kinds of other bullshit. so i went inside and i called the dealership and got a head gasket kit which comes with 2 head gaskets , 2 cam carrier gaskets , valve stem seals , egr gasket and a few more. it cost $500 canadian but because im a gm tech i got it for $380 canadian! they will be in tommorow morrning, and i figure with this being the long weekend i should have time to change it all. so how long do you guys think it will take to do it? and how hard is it? any cheats on how to do it faster? thanks.

crap i just bought the whole gasket kit, i wish i would have known that before i went out and bought the kit, i could have at least checked. but im pretty sure its head gaskets because it is going through quite a bit of anti freeze. this kit comes with alot though,
      2 head gaskets
      2 cam carrier gaskets
      1 plenum gasket
      2 intake gaskets
      2 egr gaskets
      1 oil pump drive o-ring
all the cam cover moulded gaskets
      24 valve seals
and a few more things i cant rember, not bad for original gm parts and $380 canadian!

Why GM gaskets, $380.00CDN is nuts. You can get a complete engine kit for $215.00CDN from Felpro if you shop around. That's what I paid here in Edmonton.

yeah i know gm will take them back but i did open them and they charge a %15 fee because they were ordered. and i dont know i just like using gm parts, i figure if they made it from 1991 till now they must be good. and $380 is still better than the $500 list price they have. getting them at wholesale price is awesome!

Yeah, must be nice. I always feel raped when I pay full price for GM parts, or any parts for that matter. I still can't believe that, 500 bucks, damn! That hurt's.

Whatever you do, change the oil before you even crank the engine again. As soon as water hits your oil pickup, the crank is a s good as dead, well maybe not that dramatic, but even a little watter in oil will spin a bearing quicker than S***
Definitly change the oil before you do anything
