Remove the coolant recovery tank and it should come out. You can also remove the pulley to gain more clearance.Originally posted by MC rider View PostI am trying to get the old waterpump out but its not enough clearance to get it out, what do I have to do?1991 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP / 3.4 DOHC

I don't think you can get the pump out without removing the pulley first.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

The tank is out and when I pull the pump out its stopped buy the fender and some black box that I'm not sure what it does. It only needs like one more inch of clearance, I don't have to remove the timingbelt cover do I?Originally posted by GTP091 View PostRemove the coolant recovery tank and it should come out. No, you shouldn't have to. That black box (if mounted to the fender) is your ECM (or PCM depending on the year and if it has "fins"). You can move that out of the way for now if that will give you some room to get the water pump out.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.
