  • Engine removal tip

95 Monte w/3.4 DOHC Auto trans

I have decided to lift the engine out as opposed to dropping it.
My Q is: should I take out the tranny at the same time, connected to the engine?

Thanks for the link, I did find that thread but it doesn't really answer my Q of 3.4 and Auto out the top.
I am going to take it out the top and see how things go. Plenty of pics

i have helped take out a dohc from a 95 monte from the top.

it wasnt hard or easy. but if you put the tranny out with it, you may be asking for punishment.

if your JUST replacing the engine, just take out the engine only. if your just replacing the tranny, drop the tranny from the bottom and use an enging bracket to keep the engine in the car.

either way, i would not pull both out at the same time unless your putting in the L67 and the 4t65

by the way, stop by mymonte.com and ask around. there are quite a few dohc guys there that have had to remove the engine/tranny/combo recently.
