  • 3.4 engine

I have a 93 Olds cutlass with a 3.4 for about 2 years now with an engine problem I've ignored. The engine seems sluggish up until 3000rpm then it pulls hard up to around 6000rpm. I have to pedal it slowly or it bogs. There is also some sort of vacuum leak as the air conditioning doesn't blow when the engine is under load. I plan to replace the plugs and wires. How fast are these engines supposed to be?

HAHA....they aren't. Not slow. The engines usually perform well from 3k-6.5k, and as i said in your other post one of the chips will help performance. I can not help you with your other problems but the rest sounds normal.

ive been having the same problem with the bogging. it seems like 2/3 throttle is better than wide open. if you find out what is causing it please let me know. and as far as the powerband, most people who have a 3.4 say it feels like a car with a turbo when the cams come on at 4000k.
