I had no earthly idea that this engine was swappable into a firebird/camaro...... I thought it was strictly a fwd engine?? How hard is it to drop in?

I would imagine it would be similar to the 3400 swap that has been done. The only thing it will bolt to is one motor mount and the bellhousing.Links:

Other then dimentionally, I am absolutly positive it will at least bolt up.
When I did my 3.4 Pushrod swap from a 94-95 F body I removed the two main engine mounts, the oil filter housing, and starter motor, and attempted to bolt them to the crate 96-97 LQ1 I had sitting on the engine stand. The only thing that didn't fit, obviously was the starter motor, since it was supposed to be mounted on the other side. So, it should bolt to the chassis without any problem. However, I do not know if it will fit with its girth on top (4th gen F bod), into the bay. You would also probably want to turn the Upper and Lower intakes, Valve covers and the fuel rail around so the air inlet is on the front of the engine as well as the fuel lines. The timing cover will make this nearly impossible. But I don't see any reason that it would not fit in the 3rd gen F bod, you would need to also put two front exhaust manifolds on the engine to manage the exhaust, or of course a set of custom headers. I still think that it would be a really unique and interesting swap.
