You did not see Bush, Cheney, or Haliburton, mention with this multi-billion dollar scandal(oil-for-food). The world bank is just as bad.

To sit here and point to one country or it's leader, aside from humor, is just like point to a mirror and saying it.

If you remember why US has a presence in the middle east currently, WMD is just starting to surface, there was a 14 month build up and a 48 hour notification before entering Iraq(acutally the root cause is US ties with the jews).

Remember that a couple of the terrorist that killed thousands on 9-11 came through US border countries. Not say the US security could not have been better but as we are finding out it was the US political system, especially the left overs from the Clinton Adm. neutering FBI/CIA to protect our civil rights that cost us the most lives. The Patriot Act is now in effect. We must unite to defend our current living standards or all will be lost as the terroist will see that they will end as we know it.

Corporations have an interest in other countries beside their own. If you can foster other countries prosperitiy, your country/business too can benefit. As our companies out source the recipient will tend to purchase more. That is what is driving up the demand in resources China, which raises our cost as supply is lowered and demand goes up. I am not going to get into the "guns and butter" of economics but an overview might help for some to see the bigger picture.

...or you'll be working for Hyundai or Peugeot/Citroen instead of GM.

The US unemployment rate is about at it's norm. Five percent range is normal and bests most countries. Not all people are employable. If you don't have access to C-Span's then your definitely going to be persuaded by the media. I don't even watch Fox, MSNBC, CNN... but watch C-Span which plays the topic in full video form.
    I could resist umph....

Well this topic is becoming better and better, I need to plop it down..

It seem alot of you are Slapped awake from some nightmare to realize that this nation of ours is not much better.....

Norm is definitly not asleep in this brainwashed nation...

Fact is National Unemployment is drowned out by stats and conclude a cloudy figure..

I stated my opinion of this subject and won't going into detail..But will say this.. Our Nation has been and always will be corupt, even WWI and WWII and bunches of little wars mean about the same political gain is it does now MONEY...

WTF. The US only joined the war cause Pearl Harbour got bombed. Plus the US was not the military super-power it is today. If you look at it that way the US could not have one the war on it's own. Plus if what you say is all true, why does the US get shit for credibility.
Pearl Harbor was one war that ment a completly different adjenda at first, but the use of any nuke against an army of advancement is considered aristocracy and the US is damn lucky no other country decided to retaliate. Since Japan never really advanced into US mainland soil the justification of using such weapons is far worse and could have been dealt with in other ways Democratically.

fwiw, unemployment is about the same (maybe a bit lower) as it was under Clinton. The average through the 90's was actually 5.9%, but it did drop to 5.6% at one point (which is roughly the current unemployment rate.)

And CNN chooses some mighty interesting spin on the numbers. Look at this and tell me there isn't a media bias...

I've studied World War II for ten years now, And the Japanese Navy actually did manage to bomb parts of Oregon, California and Washington state. The Japanese used mostly incendiary bombs trying to start forest fires, the bombings did little actual damge but did alot to panick people. The bombings only occured a few times as the Japanese Navy soon had its hands full with U.S. Navy.
As for Bush, hes a lying , crooked bastard. I believe he ignored direct warnings about 9/11 , just like Roosevelt ignored warnings of Pearl Harbor. Bushs agenda in Iraq is to install a government that will be friendly to companies owned by him and his buddies. I wish I had proof of this, buy even if I did, the media would spin it to get better ratings. The whole country is going to straight to hell. I want to move to Canada! I hear they have better weather up there anyway.
If it\'s fun, it\'s probably illegal and if it\'s illegal I\'m probably doing it.

Zboy, I hope you not a Clinton supporter?! Under the Clinton watch we had many attacks at embassies, ships... and only thing he did was flatten a so called aspirin factory. They even had OBL on tape surveilence in one of his training camps. It was something no President wants to do as we are seeing the media put it's spin on the war and the actual fighting be restrained to policing. Same thing happened in Vietnam as the war was won but politics got involved. Destroying the factory was like us saying we are going to enforce your presence without conflict because our hands are tied. Exactly what terrorist want and know.

Right now there is one of the biggest movements to dethrone President Bush. The Democratic party has started attacks earlier than in history. The US media has spent weeks now going over prisoner photos. Iraqis are not and don't think anything about the beheading of the American., who was detained by Iraqi police and offered a flight out by the US services. You know 9/11 happened 2.5 years ago. Why are we now just compiling a 9/11 commision to find out what went wrong? An election year? Why do we have evidence of mass genocide and video tape of Saddam abusing individuals, but when the US is involved so-called prisoner abuse that surfaced 4 months ago we hold hearings within a week of photos being released? At least they still have their heads! And Saddam has not even been tried. Instituions like hetrosexual marriage that is supported 200 years in the US and over 5000 years around the world and we have some fringe judges think otherwise. An election year? What is next...we marry our pets? Don't forget everyone is writing a book too. Bill Clinton is adding his this June in which the Dem national convention is thinking of moving the date. Hmmm?

Don't allow the media to make your decisions. They suck you into their way of thinking everytime. Critical thinking will make you a better person.

The media has put a negative spin on this whole Iraq thing since day one. I don't necessarily agree with us being over there, but I don't think we are raping and pillaging (sp?) like the media is making us out to be doing.

How could they put it in a postive light? Most people don't even know why we are there.

There is only ONE valid justification in my mind.....

In order to get back at Saudi Arabia we will have to give up the #1 oil fields and our staging area in Saudi. Therefore, we must secure oil reserves and turf in another country nearby. Due to the fact we created Saddam Hussien (yes we did, we trained him, supported him, and made sure he remained in power) and he turned out to be a real dickhead... using the technology we sold him and all... Iraq became #1 consideration for attack so that we could change our strategic position. Now that we are out of Saudi Arabia, the next time they call themselves "allies" and something even remotely like 9-11 happens, we'll be hearing about "regime change" in Saudi.

You didn't hear that from Bush, the media, or probably anyone else for that matter. I don't think Bush was smart enough to realize that, my money is on "My Daddy was almost assinated" was the only thing on his mind. Which is why he must go.

Until I see hard evidence rather than all these conspiracy theories that are being thrown around, I don't even think I will vote. It will just be a great day when Kerry takes office and we can all marry our siblings and our household pets all at the same time. We will also be able to get abortions 9 months into the whole thing and won't be able to own a firearm. Yes sir, that will be a grand old time......

Vote for Satan, the lesser of the 3 evils.

                          i have a valid justification:

Annual Child Mortality Rate of 12 and under, under Saddam's rule: 12,000

But many people seem to think only WMDs that can cur their own way of life are valid reasons.

                          I just don't understand...

If I ever get around to registering I'll vote for Kerry. The hell with Bush, I'm already married so I don't care who marries who, as for abortions my son needs siblings so me & my wife won't be getting one, and as for not being able to own a firearm. shit try again Mr. President

I am in the same boat as you, but still.......... Doesn't this country have morals anymore? Why have we turned a blind eye to these kinds of things? It's kind of like no matter what happens anymore we are all the butt of a world wide joke. They should just hand out clown uniforms to the millions of immigrants we take on every day. Why couldn't I have been from the '60s where life was easier and cars can from the factory with V8's?

phantom505, have you heard of 9/11? Cobalt Towers? U.S.S. Cole? And any number of random attacks that killed people around the world and western culture disrupted. We supported Saddam and so did every other country. Every hear of "Oil for Food" program. It did feed the needy but also filled Saddam's pocket. Now there are some questions about the countries involved did not pocket heavily also. For some reason Saddam loved it when the U.N. came in for inspection. We should have not gave him 48 hours before we entered. There would not be many of the unanswered questions the media has today. But that is the price we pay for diplomacy.

Now the World Bank is missing large amounts of money. If these crooks continue they could disrupt the global economy. There is something to be said about a 200 year old plan that has checks and balances.
