  • The BIG BLOW

Here we are again...Hurricane Katrina is "barreling", (excuse the pun), towards the Louisiana coastline, taking some more of our already shaken oil rigs with it. Sustained winds as of 11 AM EST @ 175 MPH. And you think you pay a lot for gas now?

And as if that's not enough, 2 more possible "Big Winds", are forming off the African coast.

And for the people in New Orleans and surrounding area. GET THE FUCK OUTA THERE!! And good luck. Hopefully, the Military will step in and help with the evacuation.

I tried to make light of it in my previous post. I appologize. This is a Bitch of a storm. Worst part is, New Orleans knew it would happen, but they haven't built up the levees, not that it would help much. Pump stations are outdated and below the expected surge level. This means they just don't work.

Kat could change the coastline as we know it.

Mother Nature does rule. She had 2 daughters. Camile and Katrina. Kat is pissed.

185 sustained as of 5PM EST. And all night to grow.

God be with them...there herding people into the superdome...wouldn't think that would be the safest place to be. I thought they would be bused out of town to higher ground.

The superdome was designed to withstand a cat 5 hurricane. I thought i read that some where. Just think, if the city floods, which it will, the bottom of the Superdome can be New Orleans largest swimming pool. I just saw on the whether channel that over half of the citizens got out but there are still some 400k people that cant leave due to lack of money or physical condition. I sure hope that they are all safe. So much for bourbon street!!!

I was thinking the same thing, the superdome being a big swimming pool, they're hoping to get 100,000 people in there, seating capacity is something like 70,000.

Aww, I think I remember a super bowl that had over 100,000 in the late 70s or early 80s. Still dont seem like the safe place to be though.

I don't want to see anybody get hurt or lose property. I hope they can get them all out. The way storms keep hitting the south, who would want to live there after much longer?

"This is how you know it's a serious hurricane,'' she said. "You can't find a slice of white bread in the city, but you can still buy beer.''
wow. Gimme a beer and a tall building.

                          Hurricane Katrina rips Superdome roof

                          Associated Press
                          Posted: 2 hours ago

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Hurricane Katrina ripped two holes in the curved roof of the Louisiana Superdome, letting in rain as thousands of storm refugees huddled inside Monday.

Superdome and government emergency officials stressed that they did not expect the huge roof to fail because of the relatively small breaches, each about 15 to 20 feet long and 4 to 5 feet wide.

And then she visits us. we need the rain... Best radar I've seen. From the time of this post, I estimate about 2" of rain starting in about an hour... http://www.intellicast.com/Local/USL...p&prodnav=none

I know New Orleans took a big hit, but it all comes out for the best. It is Mother Natures way of salvage. Hopefully the death toll is low. In Louisiana, New Orleans is the most protected. The coast took a big hit. A lot of fishermen lost everything. And a lot of poor people live outside the levees. I wish them well.

Here goes your gas.. At's an oil rig torn loose and crashed into a bridge. I heard that prices will start rising today up to at least $2.80 and higher in some areas.
