  • What Is This Thang?

Friends truck. 1991 GMC 4wd. 3.4 V6. Right above the oil filter. Can it be removed and plugged? He is losing 1/2 qt of oil a day out of it.

if it doesn't have any wires or hoses going to it then i'd probably plug it off

thats the oil pressure sensor, with what looks to be some sort of shield. it needs to be there. when the one on my truck started leaking(2pc deal with some sort of crimped connection between the peices seems dumb for a pressure sending unit) i cleaned the hell out of it with brake cleaner(off the truck of course) and then RTV'ed the piss out of it. still works, but doesn't leak anymore.

Replace it. If its leaking then its split.
