  • Thinking about going boost

Well i just got another 3.4L and I wanna do a fully built turbo. Before i send it out to a machinist I need some questions. To start off what compression ratio is recommended if my goal is around 400HP. Should I go lower than stock compression ratio?

Id probably use a good 3400 top-end before doing anything else. Compression should a good 9.0:1. (no reason to any lower than that). Also, keep the quence at around .050. (.045 is nominal, but I like to leave a bit of clearance for rod-stretch.) Your stock rods are actually pretty decent, just upgrade your rod-bolts. ARP L19 rod-bolts are overkill, but they can be had cheap enough to go ahead and use them. A good set of ARP head and lower-end studs wouldnt be bad either since your going through the trouble of having it machined.

Took a break from working on the car. Got some better tools, got a better shop, got a better job... Its time to burn metal!

I'd agree. For high boost- 8.5:1, medium boost- 9:1, and low boost- stock compression. I think I went with 8.75:1 or 9:1 on my pistons.
