What function does the ostrich have and how is it used for tuning OBD1 ECMs? I have not used one but am willing to buy an ostrich if it will make tuning my 3400 hybrid Beretta easier. Can anyone with experience help me with an explination?

I have the APU-1 emulator from Moates which is quite a bit more expensive than the Ostrich. The Ostrich as long as it works on command will help you considerably with tuning since it will allow you to change parameters in the chip data while the engine is running to get the immediate effect as opposed to burning multiple chips with modified data in hopes of being closer to a better tune.Originally posted by johnnymossville View PostWhat function does the ostrich have and how is it used for tuning OBD1 ECMs? Although I'm having trouble getting my emulator to datalog using the Turbo Grand Prix code, it seems to work fine with the 90-92 Beretta code for the 3.1L

Yep, pretty much what he said..
It emulates the eprom that stores the code for the engine, you can change tables and stuff with the engine running. It and a wideband o2 sensor are about the most valuable tuning tools out there.
At the track the other night i was tuning my car while sitting in the staging lanes. Kept dropping my 1/4 mile times till the battery in the laptop died.
