robert also thinks that that was the issue. It being my first time i was ignorant of that step. And no, there were no error counts once connected, which im assuming is a good thing?

    I was so close!!!

I was one step away from data logging and i just couldn't figure it out!

    What did i do wrong??

Heres the procedure i used so you guys can see what i did.

    1. started up tunerpro
    2. Connected usb datalog cable to laptop
    3. found which com port was being used (the only one i saw said "com 3" so thats what i went with.)
    4. went to preferences in Tunerpro and select "com 3"
    5. loaded the A1 .ads that John sent me into the aldl setup table.
    6. connected data log cable to my car
    7. I hit f4 to "connect" and it said "connected"
    8. went to datalog (by hitting the red button)..... and it said "Data log Error" !!!!!!

It just wouldn't log. I was receiving info via the usb cable because i was looking at all of the flags/switches/dash tables on TP and they were all streaming data. It just wouldn't record for me.... I even tried hitting the record button at different times like with the "key on" and right after starting the car up etc. nothing worked. I also tried the other two usb slots just in case i messed that up. Nothing i could do would get it to "record" the datalog... It just kept coming up as "Data log error" with no explanation.

    so close... yet so fail.

Do you have 7zip program to open the .7z file? It has many files inside like a .zip file...............

i know how to do that. But say i do hit ctrl E, THEN i can't find it anywhere. I have saved it (your xdf database) to my desktop, dowloads, hardrive etc. I can't seem to get it to open up in tuner pro

what should i be saving the data base to?

hit Ctrl+E and then it asks you to select the XDF you want.

i had to install a new mobo and some other things in my pc so i lost all my tunerpro/xdf data etc.

Robert, i downloaded your xdf database and i downloaded tuner pro, how do i select your "my$a1" xdf in tunerpro?

I know i did it before... but i'm drawing a blank right now.

i'm glad you did. I can only imagine the margin for error here. One misplaced wire and something might not work at all. You aced it John, i didn't even get one single trouble code, which like i said i was completely astounded at.

if you're using TP V4, when in the aldl screen (F4), export it to CSV.
