Well we started Friday night around 7pm by pulling the 2.2 and putting in the 3100, we called it quits a little after midnight. Started saturday around 11am, and did everything else that needed to be done. Now it would have been done around 11:30pm, but when we fires it it up, motor had a slight knock in it. After letting it run for a bit, the knocking got worst and started to really sound bad. So we shut it down, talked about what it could be and finaly called it a night at around 12:30. Sunday morning after 9am sometime i pulled off both valve cover and found out a rocker came loose. I must have forgoten to torque it when i did the lim gasket, but i torque them all twice and i'm pretty sure i didn't forget one. But mars came by at around noon to finish up a couple little thing and we hit the road with it by around 4pm.
It was a fairly long weekend, but it turned out great.
Figured it's time i upgraded to the big block forums.
Here's my sunfire with a 94 3100 from a grand am. Mars and i did the whole swap in a weekend.
The lower torque mount was made by cutting up the 2.2 bracket and welding it to the 3100 bracket. I bottomed out with it 800' from my house on the first ride out which is why it's a little shiny, and bent. It hangs about an inch lower than the oil pan, which is a good thing.
Mounted the ecm under the glove box.
This is the only pics of the wiring i can get from my phone.
Here a vid of us starting the motor on the garage floor, that was interesting!
The factory dummy lights for the oil pressure and charging indicator work, as well as the temp gauge. Iv put nearly 1000 miles on it and i haven't had a problem yet. So far ive only raced my buddy 2001 grand prix gt and it's pretty much an even race, but i very slowly creep up on him. Not too bad for a sunfire.
Gotta thank Mars for the help, he did an awesome job on the custom made down pipe and welding on the mount. Now we'll see if i can make this car faster than his.
