Do manuals use a flywheel washer like the autos?

  • Question : Do manuals use a flywheel washer like the autos?

    I just got my flywheel.. Im not sure if I need to use the washer or not. It doesnt look like manuals used them.


    -GREEN 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE - L82/5spd MTX +

    Automatics use a Flexplate. Like a flywheel but thin. Flywheels do not use the reinforcement and you'll need longer bolts for the flywheel.

      So I need longer bolts and I dont need the washer?

        For the flywheel, you do not use the reinforcment and you will need longer bolts. GM should be able to get you those.

          yes, do not use the automatic flex plate bolts.. you'll strip out the crank.

                  Yeah, but gm wants like 60 or 70 bucks for them.

                  This is commonly over looked in a swap.

                  I wish I would of known, i just pulled a tranny at the yard but left the flywheel on. I could of sent you the bolts for free.
