I wonder about the Saab 9-3 transmission. They use a 2.8 liter 60 degree V6 with a 6 speed manual.

I know I realized it was a sad day a few week ago when I went to pull up his site and it was no longer there...

i know he wasn't talking about Curtis. yeah, he took the old 3.1 out and rebuilt another stock 3.1 turbo. though, the short block he's selling. he must have sold the car recently.

that's not Curtis he's talking about

Curtis's Z was downgraded and i think sold, the engine might be going into a MG one of these days.

I forget his username on V6 but there was another guy with a welded diff in a '282 that was almost in the 10's with a boosted 3800.

282's are wicked strong..... there's a number of guys running 300-350+ hp/tq numbers through them in J's at least. i broke one, but all i did was shatter the 3-4 shift fork, i didn't actually explode it liek crazy torque would.

there was a guy over on v6 who just busted 11's in his 3400 turbo Z, and he's been running 12's through the same tranny for like 2-3 years.

i wouldn't want a TPI 350 in there... WAY too much torque in the bottom, tranny pieces everywhere even when you're not beating on it...
They hold up well, it's the Isuzu trannies that break fairly easy. If you start with a good Getrag and don't abuse it they'll last behind a 350. The 4 speed Muncie is touted as stronger than the 5 speed though.

in that case, i'll agree. about the only time i see GM manual transaxles break is when the fiero guys hook it up to a SBC/LS motor. one of my dad's old friends has one with a 327...

with past gearbox TQ ratings, and given the output of the engine, i find it hard to believe that tranny will operate w/o problems for a very long time. i've never known a FWD GM tranny that had problems.
