not sure how to post these to show up with out a link.. stupid fb!

but anyways, thats the pin that holds the gears in the diff.. I was doing some auto cross and went to check my air pressure after a run and noticed some fluid leaking... the car drove just fine.. LSD was working..

    Ouch...

I've seen that a few times, i don't think anyone has nailed a definite cause.

I always suspected the roll pin that holds the diff pin in to be a weak spot, most RWD diff's have a bolt there instead.

That is the LSD not working... your spiders were spinning too much and galled up on the pin shaft and then spun it which broke the weak roll pin as Dave described and the shaft just fell out...

This happened to one of my open diff's years ago, but in an auto the pin just slides out enough to scrape the diff housing and gouge that up and spread aluminum through the trans.

Have you spoken to Jeff yet to see what he thinks? I believe the bronze shims are going to show quite a bit of heat on them.

ah well thats good to know! kinda makes sense. gives me a good reason to make sure the LSD says good I guess. I JUST switched to redline MTL 2 months ago too..

yeah I just emailed him. he wants me to send it in, which Im planning on when I get the money. it was planned for this winter anyways, tested at 17? pounds of resistance if I remember correctly. jeff told me it should have 50 lol. 30k of abuse

if anybody has the clutch side of the v6 external slave trans housing laying around for scrap and wants to get rid of it let me know. jeff has a few I guess but Idk how much yet.
