exhaust bolt pattern

I have a 02 3100 malibu,on the s&s headers web site they list 3400 headers for 99 and up malibu. I emailed s&s they said exhaust manifold bolt pattern was different from the 3100. I'm sure s&s know what they are talking about. I didn't think gm put a 3400 in a 02 malibu. I'm just trying to buy headers that don't cost $800.00. thanks

The bolt pattern is the same. In fact, the 02 3100 uses the same heads as a 3400.

Where is all this 3100 to 3400 confusion coming from? I see too many people say that the two engines are completly different.
