the upper intake is completely different... but if you use the matching lower intake and the 3100 heads along with a 3100 timing cover, power steering pump, fuel rail and other misc stuff it works fine.. quick way to gain 20 HP or so.

Also why use the small port when the bigger ports are desired?
I have most of the parts, all u need now are the heads.

because you need to use the 3x00 power steering pump to clear the UIM. The gen2 one is too fat.Originally posted by 1988GTU View PostSo you ever decide on if you're going to use the big port heads/intakes on the 3.1mpfi?
Hey dave, why do u need to use the 3x00 timing cover?

this crossed my mind a few times as well. there were quite a few upgrades that the gen3 blocks got compared to the gen2, right? the only one i can think of right now is oiling, but its important. that and how low of miles can you find on even the least driven gen 2? newer blocks just scream more reliabilty...Originally posted by z284pwr View PostWith all the resources and information available now, why not just swap the entire engine?
