What are you doing for a throttle cable? I am fixing to start the hunt for mine and that looks to use the same kind of end...just a lead sphere on the end of the cable.
I will need one that has a sheath approximately 25" long, yours looks like it may need to be the same length or longer?

Is the 2.8l really what I want?

wow... it's been a while since I've done anything here. But I still have the car & there is some progress being made, although not much. Daughter in college now, and that costs quite a bit of fun money, as does unexpected medical expenses for family members, new Bronco toy, etc., etc.... it never ends, does it?
But I did get the scratches out of the valve covers (accidently happened during motor mount fab), as well as re-polishing them and sealing them with some new goop that is designed to protect polished aluminum (clear-coat wasn't going to work, I was told). I also sent off all my fabricated brackets to the chrome place, so even more bling will be under the hood. The engine & trans will come out as one unit soon, so the trans can be painted & detailed properly, and the big thing was cleaning up & repainting the chassis where the new motor mounts and notched foot boxes were done. Oh, and I found a really good place that will use my stainless exhaust stock & mufflers & fabricate the exhaust (I need to get that O2 sensor in there before I can wire).
Once that's done, the fuel lines will be bent & run up to the rail, and then I'll install the injectors & wiring. Doesn't sound like much, but with my recent progress, it might take ages! lol! The wiring is what has me most concerned right now; I've never done anything like that.

I was distracted lately with my daughter's graduation, family visits, etc., but will be getting back to this very soon!
Everything is in & fits. I'll pull the engine/trans one last time (hopefully) and clean-up the engine compartment & chassis, and then stick it back together and start wiring and plumbing!
Another big distraction is that I just bought a Ford Bronco & have to drive halfway across the country to get it. I couldn't help myself... I've been wanting this exact year/model for several years, and it just kinda fell into my lap. It will need a total restoration, but it's rust free & complete, and I knew the odds of finding another like this were very slim to none. Going to pick it up this weekend, and then I'll tuck it in storage and leave it alone until the Healey is finished.

Not quite that fast. Little bursts of activity whenever time allows, but we're getting more done now than ever.
Finally hooked up the starter & bump-tested it. No issues there.
Busy time of year, but in a few weeks, schedules should be clear enough that I can get back outside and start working on this again.

- Motor mounts done
- alternator mounted
- Radiator lower outlet is repositioned so I can get a hose to reach.
- cover made for empty starter pocket
- Flywheel and clutch were both precision balanced (clutch was pretty close; flywheel was way off)
- driveshaft shortened & balancedLast edited by Ghosteh; 05-01-2015, 04:14 PM.

if you want it to look a little cleaner, stop by a hose and gasket supplier and grab some stainless T-bolt clamps.
